Pyewacket Himalayans

Breeding Himalayan Persians for show was a dream of mine, from the time I was thirteen years old, back in the "good old days" of the late 1950's. My dream was sidelined by "life", i.e. school, college, marriage and, of course children, until 1988, when I acquired my first Himalayan, a tortie point, from my sister-in-law in Dallas, Texas. This kitten, Sara, became my first venture into the competitive world of show cats. Sara, basically a good "pet" quality Himalayan, did champion in CFA, but I was advised by a rather sage CFA judge, that I should invest in a real "show" cat, if I wanted to show competitively. That began my search for the "look" that I wanted to breed and show. My first purchase was a seal point male kitten - by no means "top" show quality, but he was competitive and fun to show, because of his wonderful personality and gorgeous to the floor coat. The seal point, Norman, was a great education in grooming and presentation for me, as well as a wonderful pet. He managed to acquire a few grand points in CFA and whetted my appetite for a more competitive "look" and "type". I have only been breeding for five years but, with the help, generosity and friendship of a very experienced mentor and a close group of breeder friends, I managed to achieve my very first CFA Grand Champion title on a beautiful cream point Himalayan of my breeding, in 1997. This cream point boy, CFA and ACFA Grand Champion Pyewacket Pale Rider, has now sired some wonderful prospective show babies for my showing future and now we will see what this year's show season will produce for Pyewacket Himalayans.

Although I do not sell intact cats or kittens for breeding purposes, I do have occasional pets available to approved "parents". I do not ship my kittens and a pet placement requires a visit to my home. If you are interested in a kitten with a "lap baby" personality and temperment, please do not hesitate to contact me to see what I have available. You are welcome to come by for coffee and a friendly chat about my favorite subject - Himalayans. My kittens are State Certified healthy and my vet administers all vaccines and performs all health examinations and evaluations. My kittens are not placed until they are a minimum of sixteen weeks old, as I feel they are entitled to an extended period of time with their mothers, in order to become healthy, self-confident and affectionate companions to their new "parents". Although I do NOT, sell kittens for breeding, I am on constant lookout for good show homes for show quality neuter and spay kittens. If you have an interest in showing a lovely spay or neuter kitten, please let me know. I really look forward to having you visit for coffee and a chat. I keep a very small number of cats, so that they can all be considered my "pets". All the cats and kittens are allowed to "run" the house, including both my intact males (but NOT at the same time), as the boys are "gentlemen" and do not spray.

The picture below is of my home and cattery. The house was originally built in 1925 and first occupied in February of 1926. This picture was taken in 1990 and there have been a few "improvements" made in the landscaping department. As with my cats, this home is also a constant "work in progress" and we never run out of projects that can be attempted, and sometimes actually completed, on "this old house".

Since this web site will be under constant "construction", please check back from time to time to see the new pictures of my cats and kittens, along with new links I will be adding.

I love getting and sending e-mail, so please don't hesitate to write to me. Thanks for visiting and I look forward to hearing from you.
